  1. A sweet and tasty trip to the fair.
The state fair in Grand Island is a sweet and tasty time. There is food, and treats located all over the fair. I go to the state fair and I always see all the different kinds of food and treats around the fair. The state fair is a great experience for some, and there are many different things to try. Many different people go to the fair with there stands and show off their different things.

  2. Swin for sale: How kids livestock shows became a cutthroat.
Talked about how people can't afford to buy the expensive show hogs so some are having to go with the lower priced, lower quality hogs, and that is making them not as good. Children don't live on farms as much anymore so many kids aren't getting the experience. I think the article has a good point I don't think it is all about the winning that matters I think it should be for the experience. I think that more kids should have the experience of working with animals and showing them, it teaches kids a lot of different things and its a great experience.

  3. Tiffany LaRue isn't a lucky girl. One pig she had its placenta detach, killing the embryos. Another pig was supposed to be pregnant when they bought her, but the pig wasn’t.
LaRue wanted to take a pig to the state fair, so she decided to get a pig from down the road. Still, LaRue and her younger brother Levi took care of their hogs as they’d been taught how in 4-H and Future Farmers of America, walking them every day to build muscle, bathing and carefully measuring their feed. All the other kids had the bigger and better pigs, which was unfortunate. But this article is nice, maybe it will teach that girl to appreciate the little things. At least she got the opportunity to show a pig rather than not at all.
People come from all over the state for the Grand Island State fair. With the fair slowly coming to an end, labor day weekend will be very busy. People come for the exotic food and the hundreds of booths that people put up .

  4. Desiree Wineland of Cambridge, Nebraska was honored by the White House as a Future of America Agriculture Champions of Change. She was very humbled to receive this award. Wineland and her husband, Calvin, decided to move to Nebraska not too many years ago to start a new career in agriculture after retiring from more than 20 years of military service. Desiree and Calvin made a promise to their boys to retire from the military in 2009 and move to Cambridge, where Calvin's parents and grandparents live.

  5. Why you don't want to farm in American:
One big that a farmer hit on in this article is the fact that farmers aren't making enough for what they are doing. Many farmers have to also have side jobs during the week and also have to have weekend jobs. The median farm income was -$1,453 in 2012, and according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, farmers, ranchers, and agricultural managers are expected to see a 19 percent decline between 2012 and 2022. That is a pretty big decline so things are getting any better for farmers. They are making less which is making it harder for them to make a living off of the money that they make. The main idea of this article is that if you live in America and want to be a farmer that isn't all you are going to be able to do. You will need other activities and jobs to do on the side.
