Friday 12/12/14 (30 Second Speech)

Imagine that you were running for an office.  You are trying to become the next Department Chair for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture.  You have just walked in to an elevator with a very important in influential individual and you would like to get them "on your side" as you know that they will influence a lot of people when they go to vote for the position that you seek.  You hardly know this person and don't know how well they really know you.

You have approximately 30 seconds to introduce yourself and convince this person to support you through the election.  What would you say in 30 seconds?

  1. I would say, hi, I'm Cami Roehrs. I would explain that I grew up on my family farm in Hampton, NE. I know a lot about the agriculture industry and I am a conservative (almost everyone in nebraska is) And I would watch his body language and go from there. How I am an active leader in diverse activities and I have great interpersonal skills with ranging ages. I would also compliment his shoes and tie. Making sure he feels good. And if that doesn't get him on my side, then I don't know what would.

  3. Hello sir, I'm Taylor Stettner. I spent my life growing up in the small town of Hampton, NE. I spent most of my childhood growing up and helping my grandparents with their farm. I have a variety of leadership skills and utilized them in different ways. I am a great candidate and I will do the best I can to satisfy what everyone wants. If he doesn't want to vote for me then he isn't worth my time!

  5. I would say, "Hi, my name is Chantal Lawson." Then I'd go on to explain a little bit about my background in a rural community and my experiences through FFA. I'd talk about how I am an effective leader, and an eager learner. I'd present my platform that I'd be running on, and then I'd politely thank him for his time and shake his hand.

I would explain that I didn't exactly grow up on a farm but I've grown up around people who have, and taken ag classes to get more familiar with agriculture. I would say how I have good leadership skills and explain how I would like to make a change in the world with agriculture. I would thank him for his time and cooperation and shake his hand and say, "Bye Felicia" Haha just kidding I would politely say goodbye.
