Unwelcome Job "Advancement"
When Kaleb takes his break in the staff room, Julia, his supervisor, follows him. She likes to fix his coffee and hand it to him as she backs him into the corner of the room. She compliments him on what his is wearing and how good he smells. She jokingly tells him how good they would look together and what a great team they would be. He knows she is actually serious because she continually tells him that she could help him get promoted if only they were a couple. He often talks about his girlfriend and tries to distract her with small talk and work-related conversation. His is now skipping his break when she is around to avoid getting cornered by her. Julia makes Kaleb feel very uncomfortable, but he doesn't want to treat his supervisor rudely because he needs this job. Kaleb has told his girlfriend about the problem, and she is insisting that he do something about is. What should Kaleb do? What would you do if you were Kaleb?
I feel like I would tell someone. Nothing is worse than someone making you feel super uncomfortable. Especially at work or something. He needs to confront her about it and just tell her how he feels. That he really likes his job and he doesn't believe in dating in the workforce. If he feels to uncomfortable around her, then maybe he needs to talk to another person of higher authority and confront them about it so then they can confront her about it.
ReplyDeleteKaleb should definitively tell someone in higher power. I know Julia would probably be really upset about me telling but It would be for the better. if i was Kaleb I would tell other people I worked with and get her to stop. I think its very wrong of Julia because Kaleb has a girlfriend and hes happy so why does she need to try and ruin it.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA this is like Horrible Bosses. If Kaleb were one of those guys on the movie, he'd hire someone to kill them. But that's a little extreme. I'd have to say that I probably wouldn't be like that. I'd probably tell her to knock it off, and if she didn't, I'd report her to human resources.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Kaleb I would do something about it. I know that I wouldn't t like that to happen to me. I think that Kaleb should at least tell somebody about what she has been doing to him. He shouldn't have to go through that just because he needs a job. He as given her multiple choices to stop, but she has chose not to stop. If it comes to it then maybe he doesn't need to quit because he isn't enjoying going to work because of her.
ReplyDeleteKaleb should tell someone besides his girlfriend, maybe someone else he works with. If it is really bothering him that much, he should probably look for a different job. That's what I would do. No one should have to deal with that, especially in the work place. I wouldn't put up with it if it was making me that uncomfortable. I would find a new job.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sticky situation, because you want to be in good graces with your supervisor, but on the other hand she is acting very inappropriate. He should not have to feel uncomfortable in your work environment. It is borderline sexual harassment, and something must be done about it. He needs to try to tell her she is making him feel uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI would do something about it if I was Kaleb. Not just leave it alone. I think Kaleb should tell someone, like a friend, family member, or higher authority. I agree with Cheyanne that he shouldn't have to feel this way in his work environment, it's like sexual harassment. Something should be done so he feels comfortable again.
ReplyDeleteI would say something if I were Kaleb. If you don't say anything you're just stressing yourself out about work. If you aren't even comfortable at work you wouldn't do a good job at work. I think that he should try and talk to her about it before he goes to a supervisor. If he just talked to her nicely she may back off. If not, he should go to a higher power to seek help.
ReplyDeleteIf i was Kaleb i would tell someone who is higher authority. Kaleb shouldn't leave this situation alone. Im glad he told his girlfriend and she told him to do something about it.

ReplyDeleteIf i were Kaleb I would start a riot about Julia and march the streets and maybe just make people think and she would stop and not get fired from her job i think
