  2. In my SAE, I help provide food services for the elderly in an assisted living. I was motivated to get a job because I wanted to get my feet wet in the work field. I wanted to make money and pay for my gas and shopping money. I was able to help make food in the dietary area of the East Park Villa and communicate with the residents. I know how to make certain food and what diets certain residents have. I learned to fix things in the kitchen if something broke. I advanced in my communication skills with the older generation and that is going to benefit me greatly. I really enjoyed working at the East Park villa in Aurora. No particular person or situation create my interest. I do continue doing my SAE as a CNA after basketball season. I will help at home residents cook food and clean up.

  3. Having grown up on a farm and having been a part of agriculture my whole life is what motivated me to begin my SAE. When I was younger I would go to the farm and help my dad whenever I wanted or whenever he needed me. I always enjoyed working with the cattle or helping with harvest. It made me feel important. As I am older now, I am able to do more things around the farm. My brother and my dad are the people who made me interested in this SAE. I watched my brother as he worked at the farm and I was intrigued by how everything worked. I, too, wanted to go help with this large operation. I get most of my hours during the summer because I'm not so busy with school and sports. I still help out during the school year when I can, though.

  4. For my SAE I work at the local grocery store in a nearby town. Though it's not 100% farm related, I am more exposed to agriculture than the average person would think. Primarily, I am a cashier. Occasionally I fulfill other responsibilities such as cleaning, stocking shelves, and sacking/carrying out groceries. Through my work, I am exposed to agriculture in that as a cashier, I am required to recognize produce and to know the PLU for each type of fruit/vegetable. Knowing the PLU numbers keys me in to knowing facts about the produce. For example, a 9 in front of the 4 digit PLU number says that the fruit was genetically produced. Stocking groceries helps me to learn what kind of products come from what kind of places. When we unload from the truck that groceries are shipped on, you can learn about what kind of groceries come from where. I also learn about some career development opportunities. Sometimes I have the chance to talk to Mike, our store's butcher. He helped me further my knowledge about meats so that I could be successful in my districts CDE meat's competition. I learn some thing new every day, whether it's that Georgia Peaches are slightly different than Wash/Co Peaches, or that a cubed steak is different than a tenderloin in more than how it looks. I love my SAE because it's not just a job, it's a learning opportunity. That's what inspired me to begin there, and I've had an exciting three years pursuing it.

  5. In my SAE, I help my boss with all of the little work around the town that needs done for him. I was motivated to get this job because I enjoy doing yard work, I knew there wasn't problems dealing with employees, and I knew they would work around my hours. My boss owns over half of the town, therefore there is a lot of little work needing done. My boss has asked me to do things like paint, stain, mow, organize, clean, sweep, weed wack, bag ice, etc. When I go to work, I know that I will always have something to do because there is so much little work that needs done at all times. My dad created my interest because he works there too. He told me how much he loves his job and it inspired me to apply there when I quit my last job. Even though I don't do the same work my dad does, I still enjoy my job.

  7. 1. I got motivated to begin my SAE by my family and friends. They have always pushed me to work hard and work hard at what I love. I was working another job, but I was looking for change, so I decided that I would try working at the Super 8. I had a current co-worker for the super 8 talk to the manager. I really wanted to help others they way that they help me.
    2. I work at the front desk. I check people into their rooms. I clean the main lobby area. I am expected to help the customer in anyway. I get to experience what it is like dealing with customers. I have days were I never see a customer with a smile and I have days where I never see and unhappy customer. I need to know how to deal which each one because you never know who is going to walk in that door next.
    3. Yeah, I was having a bad experience at my previous SAE. I knew some people that enjoyed getting to work at the Super 8. I enjoy how many of the customers I get are truck drivers. They are transferring goods for us to eat, so I feel the need to give back to them in any way I can. My parents have encouraged me to establish my SAE. They are a great inspiration to me and help me a lot.

My dad works for a farmer so I get to help out with harvest and get to see the different equipment.
2.From helping my dad I got to see different farm equipment broke and watch my dad fix it. From working at pioneer I got to see the boss work with many different things. Living on the farm I get to help out and drive the tractors and farm.

  10. In my SAE I helped take data and maintain the show plots for research.
This area interested me, because i have grown up around agriculture my whole life. I
became interested in working at Real Farm Research, when my brothers began working there. They Alway came home a told stories about their trips on the road, and people they met on the way. The work was more in depth in agriculture, and motivated me to apply to be on the research team. The fact that my work would be directly helping improve the world of agriculture. In my SAE I work hands on in the fields used for research to improve agriculture from seed hybrids, to developing new chemicals.
