Monday 11/3/14 Case Study (50 Word Minimum)

The Case of the Inadequate Planning

A group of students decide to hold a benefit concert for a local charity, which will need to close its doors if it doesn't receive enough funding .They go through the work of reserving space, inviting members of the President's cabinet, and placing posters around campus and in the community . Many churches are excited about the event and plan on bringing their youth groups to it . The charity is very excited by the concert because it will keep their doors open, the students are excited because they are able to help make a significant difference in the community, and the administration is happy because it's great publicity for the school; everybody wins .

One week before the concert, it is abundantly clear that the students did not make adequate arrangements for lighting, sound systems, or security . Unless more sound and lighting are reserved before the event, the concert will be a disaster and without enough security, the safety of those who attend could be in question . Your repeated and increasingly urgent reminders have gone unanswered because the students think you're just overreacting .

> What would you do?
> At what point would it become necessary to cancel the event?

  1. I just ask around the community for help and support. I would see if there were any other bands that had better lighting and sound system. For security I would ask the local polices. I wouldn't want to spend any extra money than I needed so I would ask others to help out and explain to the band and the security what it was for and see if they would do it for a lower rate. I would try my best not to cancel it because I know how much it means to the community.

  2. I think all you can do is keep giving reminders to people. If worst comes to worst then I would have to take matters into my own hands. I might have some close friends and family help me figure it out and help me get things arranged. After the thing is successful I would hold a meeting saying that we will not hold anymore things because nobody helped out. Then they would all feel bad and then they would say yes I promise I'll help next time. Then you just repeat I guess and make them do it all. It would become necessary to cancel the event after I can't find anyone to help me with the event.

  3. I would keep reminding people about the event and ask around if anybody has any supplies that they would be willing to donate to help the cause. I would ask some of my closest friends if they would help get things together so we wouldn't have to cancel it. If I couldn't get very many people to help out and things did not get done to host the concert, we would need to probably cancel it.

  4. I would keep trying to get the students to get those things to be able to have the concert. There isn't really much you can do, but keep pushing them to do what you asked. I would try to get other people to help me out if I could get someone to help out and donate the things that we would need. I think it wouldn't be necessary to cancel it until you knew that there was no getting what you needed. If you cancel it to early then people might get upset if you could have made it happen, but you gave up to quickly. This a tough situation and I think it would be difficult to know what the right thing is and do it.

  5. I would contact the entire group and make them aware of the situation, and what the result will be if a solution is not reached in time. Let them know that there are a lot of people counting on this event. If it is going to be a total train wreck, then I would feel the need to cancel, but the show must go on! So pull together and make it happen folk!

  6. I would go around the community and the school to see if anyone would help set all the stuff up. If I couldn't get anyone to help then that would be the proper time to shut down the event.

  7. I would ask for a help and support i would see if they had all the lights and sound system for it and for security I would ask the the polite officers to help and tell them what its for and maybe they would help and lower the prices and would come help and make the night great for the committee

  8. I'd put up notices around the community to see if there's anybody who'd volunteer to help with lighting and sounds. I'd contact the police and see if a few people could come help. If no help was given, I'd maybe shut the doors off to the guests coming and say only a certain, safe, amount can come. I'm not sure what else I could do though. If nobody could come help, then reducing the number of people who could come, and maybe scheduling a second event for the people that missed out, would be the only solution. I think.

  9. I would put signs up and make sure everyone is informed. I would make sure people know about it and maybe get in contact with the police and see if there are people willing to help. I would let people know that this is important to a lot of people.
