  1. Nutrition part of handling cold temps
With the colder temperatures and wind chill and the snow we have had this winter, livestock producers need to pay close attention to livestock, and the livestock's health. Understanding the nutritive value of the available hay supply is an important management step for dealing with cold weather. Combining the right hay with the right supplementation to meet energy needs is important.

  2. 9 tools to help fight farm crime
It is common to hear about the recent farm crimes. People stealing stuff from irrigation systems, copper wires, and more. They said something about conducting a survey for the fist tip but that seemed unhelpful. A useful tool is to take stock of your stuff. Record quantity and value of it all. Basically install a security system near your farm or around things that are valuable. Make sure things have locks and gates so thiefs can't get into things. And instead of fixing things with brass or copper on irrigation systems, replace with plastic they say.

  3. Nutrition Part of Handling Cold Temps
There are many factors to consider when managing for the cold months. Cold temperatures, wind chill factors, and snow are things that livestock producers need to pay attention to for the health of the animals and the good of the farm. Bill Seglar, DVM, PAS, and Sr. Nutritionist/Veterinarian for Du-Point Pioneer Global Forages said, "It depends on how the animals went into the winter in the first place.Have they had time to develop their coats for winter?" So it's important for the animals to have good nutrition and thick coats to protect them from the harsh winter weather.

  4. Ag groups unite to end cuban embargo:

A bunch of activists go together to try and end the embargo with Cuba. “The historic policy changes announced by the President will take steps to make American farm and products more price competitive, which will expand choices for Cuban shoppers at the grocery store and create a new customer base for America’s farmers and ranchers,” said US Secretary of Agriculture - Tom Vilsack. The whole article was pretty repetitive, and truthfully kind of boring. It just described and listed all of the activists and said that if the embargo is listed, it will benefit many people here AND there.

  5. Ag groups unite to end cuban embargo
The U.S. will advance trade between the United States and Cuba by ending the embargo policy. The prices of crops will become more competitive creating more customers also allowing us to expand our relationship with Cuba. The goal is to open up trade and investment. These changes can help support economic growth and wellbeing in both countries. The U.S. faces restrictions that other countries do not, which is causing them to lose to the other countries. Two-way trade is a critical step in advancing an efficient and globally competitive trade relationship. Moral of the story is that the U.S. is trying to be great friends with Cuba so that way we can make more money off of our goods and get imports from them.

  7. 9 Tools to Fight Farm Crime
People have been stealing stuff from irrigation system and copper wires. In Califormia there was more than $1.11 million of stuff stolen. Some farms have security holes big enough to drive a truck through. Make sure that you’re locking your things and put gates up to reduce the amount of stolen property.

  8. The state of Nebraska, especially directly impacted Nebraska landowners deserved a definitive answer from the Nebraska Supreme Court as to whether or not LB1161 is constitutional. They did not get that answer today. Our state and our impacted landowners deserve a constitutional process to site and route oil pipelines. LB1161 was drafted by TransCanada, was passed at the behest of TransCanada, was passed for the exclusive benefit and advantage of TransCanada, and is special use legislation at its worst.
