Cooler weather, rain hinder work in fields The cold weather and amount of rain has slowed things down for farmers. Irrigation was in its final stages when all of this occurred. The corn silage harvest began in southern countries. Hay harvest has been put on hold.
Farm-to-store, tags used to track produce The University of Florida has been conducting research to make a tracking system that could possibly change the way companies ship their fresh fruits and vegetables by letting them know which produce is closest to expiration and making sure consumers have the freshest products possible. Jeffery Brecht, the director of the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences' Center for Food Distribution studied strawberries starting with their harvesting up to their delivery. They place two radio frequency identification devices in each container of strawberries when they are picked and then they can track the strawberries temperature from the field, through pre-cooling, on the trucks, and eventually to the stores.

You can't kick cattle off of public land Cliven Bundy was fending off federal agents who tried to take his cows for grazing on public property. Wayne Hage also got charged with trespassing when taking his cows to a water source. Judge Robert Jones sided with Hage and said that he had the right to do it. If this is allowed then the agencies wont be able to regulate grazing. There is about 250 million acres in the American West that is open to grazing by cows and sheep. Hage wants to be able to let his cows graze and not get charged with trespassing.
Current, Future Antibiotics in Poultry Basically two doctors, Dr. Singer and Dr. Hofacre, provided information on why antibiotics are given to poultry. They talk about how antibiotics are provided, how the decision is made to treat with antibiotics, and how flocks raised without antibiotics are treated if they get sick. They also discussed the future changes for antibiotic usage in poultry production. Their goal was pretty much to make people stop freaking about about the medicine we give our chickens.
