I think this quote means that when your good at something you will show people and tell people about it and if your great at something people will tell you, but people also tell you when your good at something which helps push you to become better.
You can think your good at something and tell everybody, but that doesn't mean that you. It is easy to lie. If everyone else is saying that you are good at it, then it probably means you good at it and need to be recognized for doing such a great job.
When people think they're good at something, they like to tell people about it. But if you're great at something people will recognize your talent and tell you that they know and see it.
